Keeping Score

Bob Fouracre. He's an institution at HC. He is Mr. Entertainment. And for sure, his continuous name mixups are part of that "entertainment."

Let's tally some of his recent misnomers:
  • Shannon Brush (a personal favorite)
  • Keith Dixon
  • Carl Cruze
  • "The freshman" (said multiple times during a broadcast of the men's basketball game at Dartmouth during the 2003-04 season. Kramer? Simmons? Thomas? Young?)
  • Alex Vander Bomb (destined to be a classic)
  • Keith Hamilton

And as of Saturday, according to Crossports poster "Root," we can add two more to the list:

  • Colin Cummings
  • Victor Valva (reminds me of a famous Seinfeld episode...Mulva?)

I'm missing some, I know. Please drop a comment if you can think of others.

Not a person's name mix-up but it stands out for me.

A few years ago College Sports Television (CSTV) began broadcasting.

Driving into a mnn's BB game two years ago I was listening to the women's broadcast as I turned onto College Street.

Bob mentioned to come on down to the Hart Center for the men's game, but if you can't make it, the game would be on CSTV. He hesitated and followed with

"CSTV, the Cable Sports Television Network."

You knew just by the way he hesitated he had no idea what the name of the network was so he made it up. I laughed all the way up the hill, knowing he didn't know the name.

When I walked into the Hart Center a few minutes later there were banners in each corner of the gym with a large CSTV logo and directly beneath it the name of the network. I laughed even harder.
